PD-45-0080; Subsea Rollers and Bearings

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division is seeking information from potential sources regarding the design, fabrication, and testing of rollers and associated bearings for use in subsea payload handling equipment. The ideal roller design should be operable in both dry and subsea environments, have minimal acoustic signatures, and meet specific geometric constraints. The rollers should support dynamic loads, have a low coefficient of friction, and meet various performance requirements. Respondents are requested to provide information on their company, products, and capabilities, as well as feasibility, design margin, and cost estimates. • The rollers should be operable in both dry and subsea environments. • The rollers should have minimal acoustic signatures while operating in subsea environments. • The rollers should meet specific geometric constraints. • The rollers should support dynamic loads of at least 25,000 lbf for roller assembly “A” and 58,000 lbf for roller assembly “B”. • The rollers should have a maximum coefficient of friction at the supporting shaft that does not exceed 0.150 in both dry and subsea environments.
