Sodium Chloride for the Otay Water Treatment Plant

The City of San Diego’s Public Utilities Department is seeking a qualified supplier to provide bulk dry‑granular sodium chloride for the Otay Water Treatment Plant’s on‑site hypochlorite generation. The contract is a five‑year, firm‑price, FOB‑destination agreement with a maximum ceiling of $1.3 million. Deliveries will be made in 25‑ton loads using dedicated salt‑transport tankers, with weight verification and full documentation required for each shipment. The product must meet strict purity and moisture specifications and be produced at an NSF/ANSI 60‑certified facility. The supplier must also provide a 500‑gram laboratory sample for evaluation, maintain appropriate bonds and insurance, and be prepared to meet emergency delivery requests within 24 hours.
