The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking information from vendors capable of providing a Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry Biotyper System (MALDI-TOF) for use in organism identification in the Microbiology Laboratory at the VA North Texas Health Care System. The system should be a true benchtop system, small footprint, approximately 165 pounds, low noise, and suitable for placement on a laboratory desktop or compatible table. The system should also be integrated with the existing Beckman Coulter Microscan 96 plus / LabPro MBT solution and provide a fully automated, LIS-integrated solution without the need for separate middleware. • The system should have a high-capacity vacuum system enabling fast target exchange and minimized downtime following maintenance. • The system should have an integrated ion source cleaning capability. • The system should be able to perform testing for bacteria, fungi, and mycobacteria. • The system should have a random access operation and not be restricted to batch-only testing. • The system should be able to identify bacteria in less than one hour from prepared target to result under normal operating conditions. • The system should have built-in instrument software that is directly compatible with the existing Beckman Coulter Microscan 96 plus / LabPro-MBT without the need for separate middleware.
