The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is seeking to purchase services for the repair of absorbers in the 5710 NRL anechoic chamber. The scope of work includes site preparation and protection, absorber repair, and finalization and demobilization. The contractor will be required to coordinate with the government technical point of contact, carefully remove and reinstall floor absorbers, erect and secure scaffolding, and take measures to protect sensitive equipment and surfaces within the chamber. The contractor will also be required to use a government-approved adhesive to re-attach damaged or detached absorber tiles, mend pieces with minor tears or breaks, and replace any absorber that is damaged beyond repair.
• The anechoic chamber is critical for research and development directly related to the Navy Fleet's readiness to respond to real-world events.
• The chamber's readiness and system performance are dependent on the integrity of the installed absorbers.
• The contractor will be required to conduct a final walkthrough inspection of the repaired absorbers with the government POC and address any deficiencies identified during the final walkthrough.
• The contractor will be required to dismantle and remove all scaffolding and equipment from the chamber after successful inspection and perform a final clean-up of the work area.
• The acceptance criteria include all identified absorbers being securely attached to the chamber surfaces with no visible gaps or sagging, repaired tears being mended such that the absorber's original shape is restored, and all touch-up paint applications being consistent with the surrounding absorbers.
