The Veterinary Services Grant Program (VSGP) aims to develop, implement, and sustain food animal veterinary services and relieve veterinarian shortage situations in the United States and U.S. Insular Areas. The program has two areas of focus: Education, Extension, and Training (EET) and Rural Practice Enhancement (RPE). EET supports initiatives that enable veterinarians, veterinary students, veterinary technicians, and veterinary technician students to gain specialized skills, while RPE bolsters the capacity of private clinics that provide food/large animal veterinary services for designated veterinarian shortage areas. Eligible applicants include state, regional, or national organizations supporting food animal veterinary programs, allied or professional food animal veterinary organizations, colleges or schools of veterinary medicine, and university research foundations or veterinary medical foundations.
