NEA Literature Fellowships: Poetry, FY2025

The National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowships program offers $25,000 grants to published creative writers in poetry. The program aims to sustain and nurture a diverse range of creative writers at various stages of their careers and to continue to expand the portfolio of American art. The fellowships are available for a two-year cycle, with fellowships in prose and poetry available in alternating years. The application process is extremely rigorous, with more than 1,600 applications received each year and fewer than 3% of applicants awarded fellowships. The key aspects of this opportunity include: • The grant amount is $25,000 • The fellowship is available for a two-year cycle • The application process is anonymous, with the criteria for review being the artistic excellence and artistic merit of the submitted writing sample • The program operates on a two-year cycle, with fellowships in prose and poetry available in alternating years • The Arts Endowment's support of a project may begin any time between January 1, 2025, and January 1, 2026, and extend for up to two years.
