On-Call Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a qualified contractor to provide On-Call Week Night and Weekend coverage for psychiatric patients of the Cherokee Mental Health Institute. The contractor will be required to provide psychiatric support services, including assessment, therapy, and consultation, as well as maintain licensure in the State of Iowa and comply with Agency policies and procedures. The contract will have an initial term of one year with the option to extend for up to five additional years. The contractor will be paid at a rate per hour of On-Call coverage and a rate per hour of On-Duty services, with a total contract value not to exceed $300,000. Some key points to consider: • The contractor must maintain licensure in the State of Iowa as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. • The contractor must provide On-Call telephone availability and be able to respond to phone calls within five minutes. • The contractor must be available to be On-Duty within twenty minutes of being called by an Agency employee. • The contractor must provide complete and detailed documentation of patient encounters in the medical record. • The contractor must conduct in-person patient rounds at least once per day for any calendar day in which On-Call coverage is scheduled for at least sixteen consecutive hours.
