Cemetery Survey Update

The Beaufort County is seeking a qualified firm to update the 1999 St. Helena Cemetery Survey. The project involves community meetings, locating all known burial sites, creating an updated reconnaissance survey deliverable, and working with the County's GIS department. The scope of work includes a kickoff meeting with residents, field work to locate and document cemeteries, creation of an updated survey, and submittal of the survey to the SC State Historic Preservation Office. The selected firm will be required to provide a qualification statement, and the contract will be awarded based on the firm's qualifications and experience. Some key aspects of the project include: • Locating and documenting all known burial sites on St. Helena Island • Creating an updated reconnaissance survey deliverable that includes a map, survey pages, and identification of historic burial sites • Working with the County's GIS department to define coordinates of the sites • Meeting with residents to discuss the findings of the update • Submittal of the survey to the SC State Historic Preservation Office
