Description

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is offering wage‑subsidy incentives to eligible energy‑efficiency and clean‑technology employers who hire and train new workers on‑the‑job. The program reduces the financial risk of hiring, provides retention bonuses for the first year, and compensates employees for industry certifications. It targets individuals from disadvantaged communities and works in partnership with the New York State Department of Labor. • Wage subsidies offset a portion of employee salaries during the first year of employment. • Additional compensation is provided for successful completion of industry‑recognized certifications. • The program emphasizes hiring from disadvantaged and priority populations to meet state energy‑workforce goals.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

No explicit award amount is listed. NYSERDA typically offers wage subsidies ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 per new hire, plus additional funds for certifications. Assuming an employer trains 10–20 workers, the total subsidy could fall between $50,000 and $200,000. This estimate accounts for variability in the number of hires, certification levels, and the proportion of wage coverage.
