Notice of Intent - 80-T RT Crane

The United States Air Force is issuing a notice of intent to award a sole source contract to MGX Equipment Services, Inc. for the acquisition of one used 2019 Grove GRT880 80-Ton Rough Terrain Crane. The crane is required to support the mission of the 704th Test Group, Detachment 1, at the National Radar Cross Section Test Facility (NRTF). The crane will be used for loading and unloading trucks, mounting and dismounting large test targets, and other mission support activities. • The crane is currently located on-site and has been operated by the requiring activity since 2019. • The Government possesses knowledge of the asset's operational and maintenance history, which reduces the technical and performance risks associated with acquiring a different used crane. • Acquisition of any other new or used crane would require return of the currently leased asset and would likely result in a significant capability gap while the Government identifies, procures, transports, inspects, and places another crane into service. • Market research and a rent-versus-buy analysis have determined that purchasing this specific crane from the identified source represents the most advantageous solution for the Government.
