Historic Preservation Plan

The City of Raleigh is seeking a consulting firm to develop and write a citywide historic preservation plan, facilitating associated community engagement. The plan should provide a long-term vision for historic preservation in Raleigh, addressing topics such as preservation law, urban design, and stakeholder engagement. The successful consultant will demonstrate expertise in historic preservation, community engagement, and municipal preservation commissions. Key responsibilities include: developing a comprehensive historic preservation plan, facilitating community engagement, and providing recommendations for implementation strategies. The project is expected to last 12 months. • The City of Raleigh has a rich history, with 8 local historic districts, 185 local landmarks, and 26 National Register historic districts. • The City is seeking a consultant with experience in historic preservation, architecture, and community engagement. • The consultant will work closely with City staff and stakeholders to develop a plan that meets the needs of the community. • The plan should include a comprehensive inventory of historic resources, an analysis of preservation challenges and opportunities, and recommendations for preservation strategies. • The consultant will be expected to facilitate community engagement and outreach, including public meetings and stakeholder interviews. • The final plan should be presented in a clear and concise format, with recommendations for implementation and a plan for monitoring and evaluation.
