The AutoDIDACTS program aims to develop and validate new paradigms for rapid design exploration and innovation across regimes of aeronautical design and turbulence control problems. The program will require teams to combine expertise in compact and tunable experimental simulators, data-informed techniques, and design and development. The goals of the Proposers Day are to introduce the research community to the program vision and goals, explain the mechanics of a DARPA program, and encourage teaming arrangements among potential organizations.
Some key aspects of the program include:
• Developing predictive and generalizable macroscale principles for design and control of turbulent systems
• Combining expertise in experimental simulators, data-informed techniques, and design and development
• Validating approaches through performer-defined benchmarks and comparisons to independent computational fluid dynamics computations and measurements
• Demonstrating adaptive control techniques and low-latency fly-by-wire systems for transitional or unsteady conditions
• Developing optimal protocols for resilient optical communications, imaging, and time synchronization in turbulent atmospheric conditions
