The Indian Health Service (IHS) Injury Prevention Program (IPP) provides funding for Tribes to develop their capacity and infrastructure in injury and violence prevention. The goal is to address the disparity in injury rates among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people. This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) has two separate, competitive parts: Part I, which funds the hiring of a full-time injury prevention coordinator, and Part II, which funds the development of injury prevention projects or innovative strategies.
• The program aims to reduce injuries and violence among AI/AN people through community-driven, culturally centered approaches.
• Eligible applicants include Federally recognized Indian Tribes, Tribal organizations, and Urban Indian organizations.
• The expected total program funding is $3,000,000, with an expected number of awards ranging from 22 to 30.
• The funding range per applicant for the first budget period is up to $150,000 for Part I and up to $40,000 for Part II.
