The Species Recovery Grants to States Program provides funding to state agencies for the development and implementation of conservation programs for listed marine and anadromous species. The program supports activities such as management efforts, scientific research, and public education and outreach. Proposals should address the recovery of listed species, and priority will be given to proposals that address the recovery of highly endangered species.
* The program is authorized under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and is administered by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).
* Eligible applicants are state agencies that have entered into an agreement with NMFS pursuant to section 6(c) of the ESA.
* Proposals may involve management, scientific research, and outreach activities, and may include the development and implementation of conservation plans, habitat restoration, and public education and outreach.
* The program has a minimum non-Federal cost share requirement of 25% for single-state proposals and 10% for multi-state proposals.
* Proposals will be evaluated based on their potential to contribute to the recovery of listed species, and will be ranked according to their priority.
