The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) intends to issue a single source financial assistance award to the Wildlife Foundation of Florida (WFF) to facilitate Florida grasshopper sparrow research and conservation management. The award will provide $150,000 to the WFF to fund captive breeding, research, and urgent projects as they are realized and developed. The overarching purpose of this project is to maximize the potential for preventing the extinction of the Florida grasshopper sparrow while employing multiple recovery actions to stabilize and grow the wild population.
• The WFF will establish and manage an account to distribute funds for the project.
• The WFF will assist with developing and executing agreements with the USFWS to manage and expend funds.
• The WFF will process invoices from up to 5 entities.
• The WFF will prepare and submit an annual financial report to the USFWS.
• The USFWS will provide oversight and guidance throughout the project.
