2026 Guardrail Repair Project

The City of Palo Alto is seeking bids for the 2026 Guardrail Repair Project, which involves demolishing and removing damaged guardrails and reconstructing them using updated designs and materials. The project includes three locations: the Alma-Oregon overpass, the University-Alma overpass, and an add-alternate option for the Park-Oregon overpass. The successful bidder will be required to provide traffic control and logistics plans, demolish and replace damaged structures, and repair and/or replace concrete supports. The project is expected to commence on September 21, 2026, and be completed within 120 calendar days. • The project includes the demolition and replacement of approximately 16 feet of guardrail and concrete curb, 125 square feet of concrete sidewalk, and an additional 25 feet of concrete curb at the Oregon-Alma overpass location. • The University-Alma overpass location includes the replacement and repair of 40 feet of concrete curb and the demolition and installation of 30 feet of new guardrail. • The add-alternate Park-Oregon overpass location includes the demolition and replacement of 150 square feet of reinforced concrete sidewalk and curb and the demolition and installation of 20 feet of guardrail. • The contractor will be required to maintain a clean and safe pedestrian walkway by performing site maintenance, dust control, street sweeping, and tree trimming as necessary.
