Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is proposing to perform maintenance dredging of the New York Harbor, Sandy Hook Federal Navigation Channel. The project aims to alleviate the effects of shoaling and restore the authorized project dimensions, providing safe and economical use of the channel for military, commercial, and recreational boating interests. The contractor will be required to remove approximately 190,000 cubic yards of selected critical shoals from the Sandy Hook Channel, using a mechanical dredge with a clamshell bucket, and transport the dredged material to the Sea Bright Offshore Borrow Area. The contractor must commence work within five calendar days after receipt of the notice to proceed and complete the work within 60 calendar days. • The project requires the removal of approximately 190,000 cubic yards of selected critical shoals from the Sandy Hook Channel. • The dredged material will be transported to the Sea Bright Offshore Borrow Area, 5 miles southeast of Sandy Hook Point, NJ. • The contractor must use a mechanical dredge with a clamshell bucket and maintain an integrated production of at least 8,000 cubic yards per calendar day. • The project is estimated to cost between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. • Liquidated damages of $3,260.00 per calendar day of delay will be assessed to the contractor until all work under the contract is accepted as complete.
