Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) released its annual omnibus Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2023. This opportunity is for the GRACE-FO Science Team, which is one of the individual program elements within ROSES. The typical period of performance for an award is three years, but some programs may allow up to five years and others specify shorter periods. Proposers must be affiliated with an institution at nspires.nasaprs.com/ and, in general, NASA provides funding only to US institutions. • Proposers must retrieve the instructions document (zip file) associated with the application package for this opportunity as there is at least one required form that must be attached to the submitted proposal package. • Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and inter- or intra-agency transfers, depending on the nature of the work proposed, the proposing organization, and/or program requirements. • Tables listing the program elements and due dates, a table that provides a very top level summary of proposal contents, and the full text of the ROSES-2023 "Summary of Solicitation" may all be found on the NSPIRES website. • Frequently asked questions for ROSES are posted on the NASA website.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget amount for this opportunity is not explicitly stated, but based on the fact that it is a grant opportunity and the typical period of performance is three years, it is likely that the budget amount will be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million. This estimate is based on the fact that NASA provides funding for research and development in space and Earth sciences, and the amount of funding can vary depending on the scope and complexity of the project. The factors that may influence the likely payment range include the type of research being conducted, the number of personnel involved, and the duration of the project.
