The US Air Force is seeking an Architect-Engineer (A-E) firm to replace the upper digester compressors 1 and 2 at the Eielson Air Force Base wastewater treatment plant in Alaska. The project involves designing the replacement of the compressors, assessing the existing compressors and related appurtenances, collecting and reviewing project data, evaluating alternatives, developing design concepts and cost estimates, and attending review meetings. The A-E firm will be required to submit intermediate design documents, attend review conferences, and make revisions based on comments received. The project must be designed to meet the unique challenges presented by the extreme Arctic conditions at Eielson AFB.
Some key aspects of the project include:
• Replacing the existing motor and compressor assemblies with new blower assemblies
• Upgrading motor conductors to larger/proper gauge as required
• Re-routing 3” stainless steel piping as required to accommodate the new blower assembly configuration
• Confirming whether the existing explosion proof compressor control panel and switches can be reused
• Incorporating the new compressors/blowers into the existing SCADA system
• Evaluating whether existing PLCs, input sensors, and output devices can be reused or replaced with new components
