Strengthening and Developing of Sustainable Global Public Health and Epidemiological Workforce Capacity through Collaboration, Program Development, and Implementation

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking applications to strengthen and develop sustainable global public health and epidemiological workforce capacity through collaboration, program development, and implementation. The goal of this project is to address public health workforce development needs and strengthen capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to diseases and address public health priorities, including outbreaks. The awardees will work with the CDC and other partners to assess public health workforce needs, develop plans to fill gaps and strengthen existing programs, develop standards for accreditation and credentialing, and assist countries when and where needed. Some key aspects of this opportunity include: • Collaboration and networking among programs and regional networks • Development of Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETP) • Identification of other workforce development programs that contribute to public health priorities • Establishment of standards, monitoring, and evaluation • Strong communication and coordination among partners • Assessment of public health workforce needs and development of plans to address gaps • Development of standards for accreditation and credentialing • Assistance to countries in need
