Sources Sought: The Dalles Tailrace Crane Rail Replacement

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Portland District (NWP) is seeking sources for the replacement of the tailrace crane rail system at The Dalles Lock and Dam. The project involves rehabbing the crane rail system, repairing concrete cracks and spalls, and removing remaining railroad rails. The work is constrained by an In-Water Work Window (IWWW) due to its proximity to fish passage, and construction requires working in severe winter weather. The estimated magnitude of construction is between $5M and $10M. Key aspects of the project include: • Rehabbing the crane rail system, including removing grout, anchors, and installing new epoxy anchors and a new crane rail system • Repairing concrete cracks and spalls, including drilling epoxy injection points and filling cracks • Removing remaining railroad rails, including jack hammering out grout and cutting steel anchors • Working within a strict construction timeframe during winter, with day work only authorized during the IWWW and night work authorized all year round
