Description

The US Air Force is seeking information from potential sources about their interest and capability to perform Phase II (Resolution) of the AN/APG-68(V)9 Radar Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) program. The program aims to mitigate risks associated with component obsolescence in the AN/APG-68(V)9 radar system, a critical component of the F-16 fighting platform. The contractor shall resolve DMSMS issues on specified Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs) within the Modular Receiver/Exciter (MoRE) and the Common Radar Processor (CoRP), maintaining Form, Fit, and Function (FFF) compatibility with the existing system configuration. The contractor shall perform tasks such as project management, engineering, prototype fabrication, verification and validation, and phase III proposal preparation. Some key points to consider: • The contractor shall replace obsolete components with modern, sustainable components while maintaining FFF equivalence. • The contractor shall fabricate two engineering development units (EDUs) for each SRU. • The contractor shall develop a qualification test plan (QTP) and execute bench-level functional testing on the prototype SRUs. • The contractor shall provide key data deliverables, including a project management plan, test plan, functional test report, and DMSMS final engineering report.

Budget estimate

$5,000,000 – $20,000,000

The estimated budget for this opportunity is difficult to determine due to the lack of specific information in the document. However, considering the scope of work, which includes resolving DMSMS issues on multiple SRUs, fabricating prototype units, and performing verification and validation testing, the estimated budget could be in the range of $5 million to $20 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contract will be a cost-plus-fixed-fee or a firm-fixed-price contract, and the contractor will need to invest significant resources in engineering, manufacturing, and testing. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the SRUs, the number of units to be fabricated, and the level of testing required.
