ITS Fiber Inventory (TC023)

The City of Issaquah, WA is soliciting information from skilled trade and specialty contractors to help define a comprehensive inventory of the city’s outside plant (OSP) fiber optic network. The objective of this project is to conduct a comprehensive inventory of the City's outside plant (OSP) fiber optic network, which will provide a detailed understanding of the current state of the fiber optic infrastructure and support future maintenance and upgrade efforts. The inventory should include identification, tracking, and documentation of common fiber optic cable characteristics, locations where cables are spliced and terminated, active and inactive strands, and common characteristics of fiber cabinets and vaults. Key objectives of the project include: • Documenting cable types and dark/lit strand counts. • Assessing and documenting the condition of cables. • Locating and documenting all splices, including type and quality. • Identifying all terminations, including connector types and quality. • Documenting characteristics of vaults/cabinets. • Documenting any additional hardware within the vaults/cabinets. • Documenting ducts/knockouts and their occupancy. • Documenting aerial cable characteristics, including attachments and enclosures. • Documenting characteristics of cable ducts, including fill levels. • Documenting other providers that may be using the same vaults/cabinets.
