The National Park Service intends to award a single-source justified cooperative agreement to the National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE) for the Interns at Weir Farm National Historic Site project. The project aims to provide training opportunities to qualified undergraduate and graduate students in academic programs in historic preservation and related disciplines. The interns will work alongside NPS staff in the cultural resources and interpretation fields in different park units and offices throughout the nation. The project's goals include preserving the nation's heritage, improving preservation education, and promoting education, job training, and community involvement. Some of the key responsibilities of the interns include:
• Performing routine museum preservation and historic housekeeping on collections objects and historic structures
• Museum documentation cataloging using DOI Museum Collections Software (ICMS)
• Museum object photography
• Scanning of archival materials
• Leading public programs and providing information and interpretation to visitors
• Participating in public outreach programs and contributing to the park's web-based, digital, and social media.
