Description

The Naval Air Weapons Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) is seeking a High Temperature, Controlled Atmosphere Furnace Suite to support research, development, testing, processing, and production of metal and ceramic-based composite materials. The suite should include two furnace chambers, vacuum systems, a combined chiller, and a combination cabinet. The furnaces should be capable of operating at high temperatures, with one chamber reaching 1300 degrees Celsius and the other reaching 2200 degrees Celsius. The suite should also include a range of features, such as integrated radiation and heat shields, copper water-cooled power feed-throughs, and a touch screen human machine interface (HMI) control system. Some key features of the required furnace suite include: • Two furnace chambers with different maximum operating temperatures • Vacuum systems capable of pumping the chambers to a pressure of at least 10^-5 torr • A combined chiller system to provide cooling to the furnaces • A HMI control system with a graphical user interface • Integrated safety features, such as overtemperature controls and emergency stop buttons • A 1-year warranty against defects of material and workmanship

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific budget or price range. However, considering the complexity and specialized nature of the high-temperature controlled atmosphere furnace suite, it is likely that the budget will be substantial. A possible estimate could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million, depending on the scope of work, the experience and qualifications of the contractor, and the level of competition for the contract. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the cost of materials, labor, and equipment, as well as the level of customization and specialization required for the furnace suite. Additionally, the budget may be influenced by the contractor's ability to meet the required delivery schedule and to provide adequate training and support to the Naval Air Weapons Center personnel.
