Description

The Community Microgrid Assistance Partnership (C-MAP) is an effort by the United States Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Electricity (OE) to expand access to affordable energy, strengthen grid reliability, and bolster national security. This solicitation aims to support rural and remote communities in developing and implementing microgrid energy systems. The program provides direct funding, access to technical experts, and educational resources to energy providers and partners. The 2026 C-MAP solicitation consists of five topic areas: Regional Microgrid Coordination, Microgrid Integration with Large Load Energy Consumers, Microgrid Development, Microgrid Transformation, and Microgrid Assessment for Industrial or other Large Load Energy Consumers. The solicitation targets existing or proposed microgrids that experience challenges with cost, reliability, resilience, and/or power quality. Key aspects of the job include: • Developing and implementing multi-community support efforts to better support or develop advanced microgrid energy systems • Developing detailed engineering designs and financial assessments in support of developing advanced microgrid systems • Expanding collaboration between energy providers and large load energy users to expand industrial development in rural areas • Assessing and improving the operation of existing microgrid energy systems • Demonstrating innovations or common configurations that can be applied and replicated across other microgrid applications
