Description

The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) is seeking to negotiate a sole source contract with Starna Cells for the production of Fluorescent Phosphate Optical Glass Units. These units are required for the preparation of NIST Standard Reference Material SRM 2943a, which will replace the currently unavailable NIST SRM 2943 for national measurement traceability of fluorescence emission intensity spectra. The glass units must be prepared from high-purity, optical-quality phosphate glass containing added copper, and must exhibit specific optical and fluorescence properties. • The contract will be a Firm-Fixed Price purchase order. • The NAICS code for this requirement is 327212 – Other Pressed & Blown Glass & Glassware Manufacturing. • The small size standard for this requirement is 1,250 employees. • Interested parties who regard themselves as capable of fulfilling these requirements are invited to submit responses to the Government for consideration.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this contract is not specified in the document. However, based on the fact that it's a Firm-Fixed Price purchase order and considering the specialized nature of the Fluorescent Phosphate Optical Glass Units, the budget could be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the production of these units requires specialized equipment and expertise, and that the quantity required is not extremely large. The actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the specifics of the contract and the negotiations between NIST and the contractor.
