The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking architectural design services for the South Campus Workforce Innovations Center. The project involves designing a 70,000 square foot, three-story building that will house classrooms, labs, and support spaces. The building should be highly energy efficient, with a goal of achieving near net zero energy use. The project also includes extensions of all utilities, parking, and stormwater management for the site. The designer will be responsible for conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents, but not construction administration or close-out. The project will be delivered under a CM at Risk delivery model and will be designed and administered under State Construction Office requirements.
Key features of the project include:
• A highly energy efficient building with a goal of achieving near net zero energy use
• A rooftop photovoltaic system to offset building energy consumption
• A geothermal system for heating and cooling
• A displacement ventilation system for classrooms, conference rooms, and office spaces
• A fully functional fire alarm and mass notification system
• A data and telecommunications system with fiber-optic connections to the campus network
• A site plan that includes parking, pedestrian connectivity, and landscaping
The designer will be selected based on factors such as expertise and previous experience, demonstrated understanding of requirements, and technical expertise.
