REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI): Atmospheric Microwave Radiometry Observations for NASA FALCON

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is soliciting information on low-cost concepts for the development, launch, and operations of a radiometer component to fly in formation with the Fleet for the Atmosphere Linking Commercial Observations with NASA (FALCON). The instrument, supporting platform, launch, and operations should fully leverage commercial capabilities. The RFI seeks responses broadly from industry, universities, non-profit organizations, individuals, NASA centers, and other government agencies. • The FALCON constellation is expected to begin with the launch of NASA's existing INvestigation of Convective UpdraftS (INCUS) and Polarized Submillimeter Ice-Cloud Radiometer (PolSIR) venture-class missions. • The RFI targets a commercially owned and operated microwave radiometer capability to fly in formation with the NASA constellation. • Respondents are asked to quantify any limitations imposed on satellite operations as a function of the parameter space defined in the RFI. • The response shall be no longer than 10 pages and include organization information, mission concept approach, cost and schedule, and additional information.
