The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking to negotiate a sole source contract with the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) for engineering services. The contract will involve providing bolometer design and operation expertise, as well as implementing modifications to the electronics designs used to operate electrical substitution microfabricated bolometers. The work will be performed in Boulder, CO, and the period of performance is expected to be from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. The contractor will be required to develop new requirements for bolometers, examine new concepts of operation, modify the design of the amplifier board, interface board, and wire bond board, and fabricate and test an engineering unit of the modified design.
• The contractor must have experience in providing engineering services, particularly in the design and operation of bolometers.
• The contractor must be able to demonstrate their capability to meet the specific requirements of the contract.
• The contractor will be required to provide deliverables, including a memo describing new concepts of operation for bolometers, attendance at bi-weekly meetings, modified design for PBR-R electronics, an engineering unit of the modified PBR-R electronics design, and documentation describing the modified design and performance.
