The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Inc. The agreement will provide on-going funding for programs, operations, and maintenance at the King Center, with the goal of preserving and interpreting the life and legacy of Dr. King. The project aims to connect visitors to Dr. King's life and legacy, support operations, and maintain the site. The King Center will be responsible for creating a more engaging, safe, and secure guest experience, while the National Park Service will provide technical assistance and consultation.
Some key objectives of the project include:
• Providing interpretive and educational programs to connect visitors to Dr. King's life and legacy
• Supporting operations for continual public service
• Maintaining the site for visitor access to buildings, restrooms, grounds, and programs
• Maintaining the site for safe passage to a wide variety of user abilities to certain heavily trafficked areas of the King Center
