The USDA Forest Service is seeking quotations from small‑business contractors to design, remove, and replace the cab on the Barillas Peak Lookout Tower and to install a comprehensive lightning‑protection system on both Barillas and Encino Vista Lookout Towers located on the Santa Fe National Forest. The work includes engineering design, demolition of the existing cab, fabrication and installation of a new cab, grounding, testing, and full documentation. An optional separate item covers a brand‑new lightning‑protection system for the Encino Vista Tower. The contract is a total small‑business set‑aside, firm‑fixed‑price, with a performance period of up to 548 calendar days after notice to proceed. A 20 % bid bond is required; a 10‑day notice‑to‑proceed window follows award. Two optional pre‑bid site visits are scheduled but not mandatory.
