The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement under a previously competed or single source master cooperative agreement for the project titled "Integrated Resource Management Internships at Point Reyes National Seashore." The project aims to educate students and recent graduates and contribute to preserving the natural and cultural resources of the park. The task agreement will provide educational opportunities and training to interns in various academic fields, including historic preservation, museum studies, range management, GIS, and vegetation management. The interns will receive between 480 and 960 hours of training and experience in their respective area. The project will support the preservation of the park's natural and cultural resources and contribute to the education and professional development of the next generation of environmental stewards.
Some key aspects of the project include:
• Preservation Crew Interns will participate in office work, shop work, on-site project work, and documentation and reporting.
• Museum Interns will participate in cataloguing incoming museum and archival collections, housing and re-housing museum objects, researching objects and archival records, and conducting condition assessments.
• Range Intern will participate in field restoration efforts, nursery operations, and monitoring and analyzing annual residual dry matter on ranches.
• GIS Intern will work on GIS mapping and analysis, building skills in GIS analysis, and assisting with organizing, cataloging, and maintaining NPS GIS data and databases.
• Vegetation Management Interns will participate in dune restoration activities, non-native species removal, and other high-priority weed removals.
