Sole Source Justification - New Bedford CBOC Roof Replacement

The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center Providence, is seeking a contractor to replace roof shingles at the New Bedford CBOC. The project requires a brand-name piece of material to be compatible with the existing material, resulting in a sole source needed. The total estimated value of the proposed action is $35,037.21. The project will remove and replace roof shingles from sections of the roof to maintain a uniform appearance throughout the roof and maintain the existing warranty of the roof that will not be replaced. • The contractor must provide and install the existing shingle, CertainTeed Landmark Premium - Max Def. (Color: Colonial Slate), to match the existing shingles. • The project is a sole source justification, and the contractor must meet the requirements outlined in the justification. • The VA COR and VA Architect performed a side-by-side photograph comparison of different shingles from different manufacturers, which revealed that shingles from alternate manufacturers were visually different in color, pattern, and profile.
