Sources Sought ECP 1331 F/A-18 and EA-18G Brake Bleeder Valve Protective Cap

The US Navy is seeking sources for the improvement, production, and retrofit of the Brake Bleeder Valve Protective Cap for the F/A-18 and EA-18G aircraft. The current Brake Bleeder Valve relies on torque application to resist backing out, but it lacks a mechanical retention mechanism, which can lead to rapid depletion of hydraulic systems and loss of normal and emergency braking. The Navy is looking for a modified Brake Bleeder Protective Cap that can accommodate safety wire to prevent backing out and ensure all contributing factors to failure are mitigated. The key requirements for this project include: • Designing a new configuration Protective Cap to meet the requirements of the Brake Assembly performance specification • Providing associated drawings and updates • Ensuring the modification does not affect the form, fit, or hydraulic function of the Brake Bleeder Valve • Procuring up to 4,800 redesigned caps for retrofit
