Description

The City of Santa Barbara is seeking a qualified contractor to install thermoplastic pavement markings and striping on recently repaved city streets, following Caltrans specifications and providing full traffic control services. The work is unit‑price based (per linear foot or square foot), includes a one‑year contract that may be renewed up to five years total, and requires payment and performance bonds equal to 100 % of the bid total for bids over $25,000. Successful bidders must hold a California A‑General Engineering, C‑31, or C‑32 license, possess the requisite insurance and bonding, and comply with prevailing‑wage and reporting requirements. • Install Caltrans‑standard thermoplastic pavement markings (solid/broken white, solid yellow, school crosswalks) on city streets. • Provide all required traffic control devices and comply with the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. • Submit electronic bids through PlanetBids, include required bonds, insurance, licensing, and experience documentation; bonds and insurance due within 10 days of award.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $120,000

Based on typical municipal pavement‑marking rates ($12‑$20 per linear foot for solid white/yellow lines, $8‑$15 per square foot for crosswalk markings) and the approximate quantities listed (≈3,000 LF of striping and ≈2,500 SF of pavement markings), the contract value is likely in the $70,000‑$110,000 range. Additional costs for mobilization, traffic control, and warranty may push the high end toward $120,000, while a more conservative bid could be around $50,000 if lower unit rates or fewer quantities are applied.
