The National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program (NPS ABPP) is offering grants for the restoration of historic battlefields and associated sites of armed conflict. The grants will support community-driven stewardship of historic resources through two categories: Scoping Grants and Implementation Grants. Scoping Grants will fund early stages of project development, while Implementation Grants will fund projects that have completed planning activities prior to application. The grants require a dollar-for-dollar non-Federal match and will be awarded competitively.
• Eligible applicants include state governments, county governments, city or township governments, public and state controlled institutions of higher education, Native American tribal governments, and nonprofit organizations.
• Eligible activities include preservation, rehabilitation, and restoration of American Revolution, Civil War, and War of 1812 properties.
• The Federal share for Scoping Grants should range from $30,000-$100,000, and for Implementation Grants, $50,000-$750,000.
• The period of performance for Scoping Grants is 1 to 2 years, and for Implementation Grants, 2 to 5 years.
