The National Park Service intends to award a single-source justified cooperative agreement to Conservation Legacy for the repair, restoration, and maintenance of approximately six miles of backcountry hiking trails at Guadalupe Mountains National Park. The project aims to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors and employees, while also offering educational and community service opportunities for youth. The recipient will be responsible for carrying out the statement of work, recruiting and supervising youth workers, and providing transportation, equipment, and insurance. The National Park Service will provide pre-project logistics, orientation, and oversight, as well as hand tools, materials, and a designated crew camping area.
• The project will involve vegetation trimming, boulder pulverizing, trail tread restoration, and drainage maintenance.
• The recipient will be required to provide workers' compensation and liability insurance for crew members.
• The project is expected to last for 12 months, from September 2019 to September 2020.
• The estimated federal funding for the project is $73,540.
