Description

The San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy (RMC) is offering Proposition 1 Regionwide Grants to fund watershed, ecosystem, and water‑related projects in eastern Los Angeles County and western Orange County. Eligible applicants include nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, public agencies, tribal governments, and joint powers authorities that can demonstrate a water‑related benefit and meet the RMC’s priority objectives (e.g., watershed protection, climate‑adaptation, habitat restoration, fish passage, wildfire fuel treatment, and agricultural water sustainability). Applications are submitted in two phases—a Concept Proposal followed by a Full Application for selected concepts. Funding totals $1 million, with awards and amounts to be determined; a Letter of Intent is required, and reimbursement is the primary funding method. Preference is given to projects with matching funds, though not mandatory.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The total grant pool is $1,000,000 with a “Dependent” number of awards. Assuming the agency awards between 2 and 10 grants (a typical range for regional environmental grant programs), the average award could range from $100,000 to $500,000. Smaller, focused projects may receive around $100‑$150 k, while larger watershed restoration initiatives could secure $300‑$500 k. Thus a reasonable estimate for a single award is $100,000–$500,000.
