Description

The San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy (RMC) is offering the Wildfire Prevention Grant Program to support fire‑resilient projects in eastern Los Angeles County and western Orange County. Funding targets three categories: (1) San Gabriel Mountains and Foothills fire‑prevention planning and management (fuel‑break maintenance, invasive‑species control, cultural‑resource protection); (2) Urban Wildlands and Hills fire‑prevention planning (defensible‑space creation, fuel‑load reduction, corridor management); and (3) Forest Health projects (rehabilitation, native revegetation, infrastructure upgrades, public stewardship). Applicants submit a two‑phase application – a Concept Proposal followed by a Full Application if selected. Eligible entities include nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, public agencies, tribal governments, and joint powers authorities. Matching funds are preferred but not required. Total available funding is $2.89 M, with anticipated awards ranging from $50 k to $2 M. Reimbursement is the primary funding method, with possible advance payments. • Eligible geographies: eastern Los Angeles County & western Orange County. • Eligible applicants: nonprofits, public agencies, tribal governments, JPAs, etc. • Two‑step application (Concept → Full). • Funding: $2.89 M total; per‑award $50 k–$2 M; reimbursement method. • No specific deadline listed; open date 8/21/24. • Contact: (626) 815‑1019, [email protected].

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $2,000,000

The program lists a total estimated funding pool of $2,892,216 and indicates that individual awards will range from $50,000 up to $2,000,000. Assuming a competitive distribution, a typical award could fall anywhere within that range. Smaller organizations may receive the minimum $50 k for focused projects, while larger multi‑year forest‑health initiatives could secure near‑$2 M. Therefore, the expected budget for a successful applicant is estimated between $50,000 and $2,000,000, depending on project scope, match funding, and RMC evaluation.
