V-22 Interface Units (IUs)

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is seeking information from industry on developmental or non-developmental technology solutions for the redesign of the Interface Units (IUs) obsolete components for the V-22 aircraft. The project aims to address flight critical obsolescence concerns with minimal impact to interfaces and architecture of existing mission systems and air vehicle. The key objectives of the project include designing and developing a modern version of the impacted avionics WRAs, ensuring compatibility with the existing V-22 avionics system, and providing affordable sustainment. • The project involves redesigning the Nacelle Interface Units (NIUs), Wing Interface Units (WIUs), and Avionics Bay Interface Units (ABIUs). • The contractor will be required to provide data rights, utilize a Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) approach, and leverage Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods. • The project includes a design and development phase, followed by a production phase, with an estimated duration of 8 years. • The contractor will be responsible for conducting full scope developmental verification and validation, including functional testing, MOSA conformance testing, environmental testing, shock and vibration testing, and electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) testing.
