The Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) - CSP Hazardous Materials Response Team is seeking to procure RedWave VipIR units and a Griffin 510 (G510) gas chromatograph mass spectrometer (GC/MS) from FarrWest. The RedWave VipIR device utilizes both FTIR and Raman spectrometry to provide rapid material analysis and identification, while the G510 is a portable laboratory-grade GC/MS that can detect trace amounts of illicit substances, chemical warfare agents, and other harmful chemicals. The procurement of these devices will help address capability gaps in the area of Raman spectrometry technology and laboratory-grade confirmatory forensic analysis of hazardous substances. * The devices will be used for hazardous materials response and will provide the team with the ability to detect and analyze hazardous substances more accurately and efficiently. * The G510 will eliminate the need to send samples to out-of-state laboratories for confirmatory results, reducing delays in validated identification of materials. * Device operator training will be provided by the vendor. * The procurement of these devices will enable the CSP Hazardous Materials Response Team to become a Type 1 team, capable of supporting other Type 2 hazardous materials teams throughout the state.
