Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify potential sources of commercial products/services that can provide a 67 GHz microwave source for characterizing microwave acoustic devices. The source will be used to electrically drive piezoelectric microwave acoustic resonators at frequencies up to 67 GHz. NIST is seeking information from manufacturers capable of meeting the specified technical requirements, including a digital display, manual keypad interface, remote control interface, and upgradeable capabilities for amplitude, frequency, and phase modulation. The ideal candidate should be able to provide a product that meets the specified technical specifications, including frequency range, frequency resolution, phase offset resolution, and maximum output power. • The 67 GHz microwave source should have a digital display that shows all relevant operational parameters. • The device should have a manual keypad interface for setting operational parameters. • A remote control interface, including a USB communications port, is required. • Upgradeable capabilities for amplitude, frequency, and phase modulation are necessary. • The device should have an RF output connector with a 1.85 mm diameter and 50 ohms impedance. • The frequency range should be 250 kHz to 67 GHz or higher, with a frequency resolution of at least 0.001 Hz. • The maximum output power at specified frequencies should be at least 19 dBm at 3 GHz, 18 dBm at 15 GHz, 14 dBm at 30 GHz, and 11 dBm at 65 GHz.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

Given the technical specifications and the requirements of the 67 GHz microwave source, it's difficult to estimate the exact budget without knowing the market prices of similar products. However, considering the complexity and the high-frequency range of the device, it is likely that the product will be expensive. A rough estimate for such a device could be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000, considering the costs of similar electronic test and measurement equipment. The final budget will depend on the manufacturer, the specific model, and the negotiations between NIST and the selected vendor. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the production costs, research and development expenses, market competition, and the purchasing power of NIST.
