Description
The Alabama Department of Transportation is seeking a contractor to perform sweeping and litter removal services for District 32, which includes Blount and St. Clair counties. The contractor will be responsible for sweeping paved shoulders, gore areas, bridge curbs, and other areas, as well as removing litter from the entire highway right-of-way. The contractor must have a supervisor on site at all times to coordinate sweeping and debris removal operations, and must provide daily reports to the District Administrator. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, and payment will be made monthly based on the unit price per cycle.
• The contractor must have proof of licensing and liability insurance.
• The contractor must provide a traffic control plan that complies with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
• The contractor must use a broom-type sweeper with a capacity to perform the cleaning work safely and effectively.
• The contractor must remove all visible litter from the entire highway right-of-way, excluding the travel lanes.
• The contractor must dispose of all litter in a licensed and approved disposal area.
