The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is issuing a notice of intent to sole source a contract for a BaseSpace Correlation Engine-Large Academic License. The EPA's Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP) requires access to Illumina's BaseSpace Correlation Engine web-based discovery platform to continue genomics research studies. The agency intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with Illumina, Inc. because they are the only source that can provide the required software licenses and access. The contract will have a performance period of three years, including a twelve-month base period and two twelve-month option periods.
Some key features of the BaseSpace Correlation Engine include:
* A practical way to mine vast quantities of complex biological, clinical, and literature data
* The ability to obtain genomic information for the development of biomedical insight
* A unique ability to compare EPA data to a massive amount of data to understand the biological impact of chemical exposure
* An EPA archive of transcript profile information, including on-going EPA studies that have not been fully analyzed
