The National Park Service intends to award a single-source cooperative agreement to support the recovery of the endangered Cape Sable seaside sparrow in Everglades National Park. The project aims to determine the status and resilience of the sparrow population and improve understanding of its responses to hydrologic management, fire management, and restoration of vegetation communities. The project includes four components: demographic monitoring, monitoring of sparrow responses to restoration of previously farmed habitat, a study of the effects of prescribed and/or natural fire on sparrow populations, and analysis of historic demographic data. The recipient will be responsible for carrying out the statement of work, collaborating with NPS and other partners, and preparing summaries of field observations and preliminary results.
* The project will be conducted in Everglades National Park, Florida.
* The recipient will work with NPS and other partners to conduct data analysis and identify potential questions and assessments.
* The project will include intensive demographic monitoring of the sparrow population.
* The recipient will prepare summaries of field observations and preliminary results and communicate them with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other interested parties.
