The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land, and Water, has received an application for an Interagency Land Management Assignment (ILMA) for the Old Harbor Airport. The applicant, the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), seeks to create an ILMA to incorporate and expand three pre-existing authorizations that provide airport use at the Old Harbor Airport. The proposed ILMA will allow DOT&PF to utilize the extended portion of the runway and update the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records. The ILMA is for state-owned, DMLW-managed tide and submerged lands, approximately 41.4 acres in size.
• The public is invited to comment on this activity by September 14, 2026.
• The ILMA will address airport use via a single authorization, allowing for integration and closure of prior authorizations.
• The proposed ILMA will not involve further property development.
• The Division of Mining, Land, and Water will review and adjudicate the application, and may issue an authorization with stipulations.
