Construction Advisor for the New Fire Station #2

The City of Ames is seeking a Construction Advisor for the new Fire Station #2 project. The Advisor will provide professional construction consulting services, including design review, cost review, and construction management. The project involves replacing the existing Fire Station on Welch Avenue with a modern facility that incorporates best practices for emergency response services. The estimated project construction cost is $8,936,574, and the total project cost is $10,500,000. The Advisor will work closely with the City's staff, including the Fire Chief and Fleet and Facilities Director, to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget. Key responsibilities include reviewing and becoming familiar with the Architect's Final Schematic and Design Development Reports, participating in regular Design Team and Owner project development meetings, and assisting the Owner with the review of the developing work product from the Architect and their Consultants. • The Construction Advisor will be responsible for tracking the overall project budget on a monthly basis and maintaining records that support the budget updates. • The Advisor will participate in bi-weekly Contractor Coordination Meetings and prepare written project progress reports for the Fire Chief and Fleet and Facilities Director. • The Advisor will review and provide input on the Certificate for Payment and represent the Owner in minor decisions to the extent authorized. • The Advisor will assist the Owner in the resolution of disputes and coordination issues and provide professional experience and capability to assist the Owner in the investigation and resolution of post-construction issues.
