Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) is releasing its annual omnibus Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2020. This opportunity is for the Astrophysics Explorers U.S. Participating Investigators program element. Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and inter- or intra-agency transfers. The typical period of performance for an award is three years. Proposers must be affiliated with an institution at nspires.nasaprs.com and, in general, NASA provides funding only to US institutions. Some key points to consider: • Proposals are due by September 15, 2020 • Notices of Intent are due by August 3, 2020 • The opportunity is open to US institutions, with some caveats for non-US organizations • Awards can be made as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and inter- or intra-agency transfers • The typical period of performance for an award is three years

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is not explicitly stated, but based on the fact that it is a research grant, the award amount can vary widely. However, considering the typical period of performance for an award is three years and the fact that NASA provides funding for research and development, a reasonable estimate for the budget could be between $500,000 and $5,000,000. This is a rough estimate and the actual budget could be higher or lower, depending on the specific proposal and the needs of the project. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the scope of the project, the number of personnel involved, and the equipment and resources required.
