The Munising Falls Trail Rehabilitation project involves renovating an approximately 650-foot long paved trail at the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising, Michigan. The existing trail is asphalt pavement with three wood bridges and traverses a variety of steep and gradual terrain, following Munising Creek and terminating at an overlook deck at the base of Munising Falls. The proposed trail includes a combination of cast-in-place concrete paving and prefabricated elevated walkways. The project also includes miscellaneous drainage improvements and landscape restoration along the trail.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Renovating the existing 650-foot long paved trail
• Replacing existing bridges and portions of the on-grade trail with elevated boardwalks
• Installing temporary construction fencing, traffic control measures, and erosion and sediment controls
• Providing temporary accessible parking stalls, ramps, and signage
• Protecting cultural resources and historic artifacts
• Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and minimizing air, waterway, and subsoil contamination
• Providing a safe environment for construction personnel and visitors
• Maintaining accurate records of construction activities, including photos and daily reports.
